Started off Monday in Baltimore walking around Fell's Point enjoying more of the industrial style buildings in the downtown area:
Some people here are mourning the death of Michael Jackson:
Another great building:
Fun picture of the Inner Harbor area. I love the Chesapeake!
After visiting the National Aquarium (loved the jelly fish exhibit), the girls went back to rest for an hour and the boys headed for Camden Yards to watch batting practice. Sometimes we catch home run balls at batting practice and sometimes we don't. Today was a great day, yielding SEVEN balls hit by the Red Sox in batting practice! We know one was hit by Pedroia, one by Youkilis and one by Bay. When Jake caught his fourth ball, people around him started to riot and tell him he had enough, so he gave one to a little boy standing next to him. Here are Jake (Ellsbury) and Isaac (Ortiz) trying to get their home run balls signed
Look closely and you will see Evan (sleeves rolled up on his T-shirt) and Sam (Navy shirt) hunting for balls:
Well, having a dad who speaks fluent Japanese paid off tonight. Craig told Jake how to ask Hideki Okajima "can we have your autograph?" in Japanese. Okajima signed two balls for them. Clearly Isaac is very excited about it:
I loved Camden Yards and especially this beautiful brick wall behind right field. Four of the windows here used to hold the "2181" signs for Cal Ripken's consecutive game streak:
The Red Sox fans in our family (Jake, Icky & Caroline) were really excited when Jonathan Papelbon came in to "save" the game. The Red Sox won this game 4-0. We were really disapointed to see the lease exciting game of the three game series between the two teams. The day after we went, the Red Sox led the Orioles 10-1 before losing the game 11-10. And the next day, the Red Sox mounted a comeback in the 9th inning before winning in extra innings. Here is J-Pap:
